Kung Lao: Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks

Kung Lao is a popular Mortal Kombat character who you may have played as if you’ve played one or more games in the Mortal Kombat series. To discover everything that you need to know about Kung Lao, simply continue reading.

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Kung Lao:

He is easily recognizable due to his unique hat:

Kung Lao is easily recognizable as he wears a distinctive razor-rimmed hat. One of Kung Lao’s signature moves is the hat throw. Although he is also capable of performing the ultimate hat, a move that involves throwing his hat at his opponents with a fast underarm throw, in order to slice them for a few seconds. Another move that is well worth trying out is the hat grinder, in which Kung Lao throws his hat vertically into his opponent’s torsos.

His first appearance was in Mortal Kombat II:

Kung Lao did not feature in the very first Mortal Kombat game. However, he has made an appearance in 18 Mortal Kombat titles.

He was a former Shaolin monk:

Kung Lao’s backstory was that he was formerly a Shaolin monk and part of the White Lotus Society. If you’re a fan of Kung Lao, it’s a great idea to search for a Shaolin monk-inspired Kung Lao wallpaper.

He did not want to become a fighter:

Unlike most of the characters in the Mortal Kombat series, Kung Lao initially had zero desire to become a championship fighter, like his famous ancestor the Great Kung Lao. Instead, Kung Lao wanted to live a simple, peaceful existence. However, Kung Lao’s narrative took a sharp turn in Mortal Kombat 2011, when Kung Lao decided that he wanted to prove himself as a fighter against his rival Liu Kang. In this title, he was shown to be immature and jealous of Liu Kang.

He trained under the tutelage of Bo’Rai Cho:

Just like Liu Kang, Kung Lao trained under the mentorship of Bo’Rai Cho, an Earth Realm warrior.

So if you enjoy playing Mortal Kombat, it’s a great idea to play a few games as Kung Lao. Especially if you want to try using his special moves which make use of his razor blade hat!
